SoundWater Announces a New Flow Calibration System

SoundWater recently finished construction of a new flow calibration system. The new system will be used to test and calibrate clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters (SoundWater’s, as well as other manufacturers) This new service will continue to support our customers internal quality assurance programs.

The system is capable of measuring flows on pipe sizes from ¾” to 10” in diameter, with a maximum flow rate of approximately 800 gpm. The system includes multiple pipe materials including steel, stainless steel, plastic, and copper. All pipe sizes and materials are permanently constructed in a massive grid, allowing SoundWater to quickly setup and test flows – meaning we can quickly turn around customer orders and at a competitive price.

Each pipe is long enough for more than 15 diameters of straight pipe upstream of the flowmeter installation. In addition, each line size is fitted with a special flow conditioning plate to assure the flow profile is fully developed – for accurate measurements.

The system is capable of measuring flows with approximately +/- 0.4 percent uncertainty at 95% confidence interval.
